There are many ways to skin the every saving cat that do not involve living by candle light or bathing in the Liesbeek River, but rather taking a bit of trash and turning it into something marvellously creative. If you are bored with your current lampshade our light fitting, why not try your hand at making one of these quirky and fun lighting features, most of which are made from rubbish that usually would have ended up in the bin.
For example, take old plastic bottle ends and turn them into a chandelier, or fit together some plastic spoons and turn them into a glowing orb. This may appear to be a rather abstract concept of saving energy; however it fits into the “permacultural” nuance of overall sustainability, namely that nothing should go to waste in order to prevent more waste. And if you are still not convinced, you can always use an energy saving light bulb.
