It is no wonder that chocolate is the comfort food of choice as cocoa contains a small amount of phenethylamine; a chemical which stimulates the nervous system and triggers the release of the ‘feel-good’ neurochemical dopamine.
Try this delicious chocolate smoothie recipe for a boost of the good stuff without any guilt.
Ingredients:
500ml water
¼ cup cashew or Brazil nuts
7 dates
2 tbs cocoa powder
2 tbs chia seeds
2 tbs honey
1 tbs cocoa butter
1 tbs hemp seeds
½ tsp vanilla powder
Pinch of salt.
Method:
Blend all ingredients in a blender, add additional ice to cool.
