Gearing up the green

There are a few food brands that make statements about their products such as “all in one goodness” or “complete with all vital vitamins and minerals,” but one has to wonder about the legitimacy of these claims, especially if said product is covered in layers of plastic wrapping. To avoid being bamboozled but such assertions, rather just drink a super green smoothie. Green smoothies are a great way to get more alkalising greens into the body, especially if one adds hemp seeds or hemp powder, whose nutritional benefits are endless.


500 ml water
1 apple
1 banana
6 spinach leaves
Juice of 1 large lemon
2 tbs hemp seeds
1 tbs hemp protein powder

Blend all ingredients in blender and drink.
